GAN aptitude test
GAN aptitude test prep
Full GAN aptitude prep is $35, one payment, for 45 days of access. It has 3 full-length timed tests with every section the programs list, practice by topic, a diagnostic test with a study plan, and a printable pack you keep. GAN does not publish how many questions each section has or how long each section lasts, so the counts in our tests are ours.
If you haven't taken the free full-length practice test, start there. It shows where you stand, and it runs on the same test screen.
What's included
- 3 full-length timed tests
- Every section the programs list, each on its own clock, with a short break between sections, at the counts and times of our free full-length test. Take a whole test in one sitting, or one section at a time. As at the programs that state the rule, calculators are not allowed.
- Practice by topic
- Pick one topic, such as three folds, gears or fractions, and work through questions on it alone. Keep the clock on or turn it off.
- Diagnostic test and study plan
- A short timed test across every section. Your result gives you a study plan that starts with your three weakest topics.
- A drawing for every paper folding and mechanical question
- Each paper folding question shows the folds and five unfolded sheets, and each mechanical question shows the gears, levers, pulleys or tanks it asks about.
- Step-by-step explanations
- Every question shows the method, and why each wrong choice is wrong.
- Review mode
- Every question you missed, across all your tests, in one place with its method, so you can work it again.
- Printable pack (PDF)
- A method sheet with the rules and a worked example for every topic, printable copies of full tests 1 to 3 from the simulator with answer keys and worked solutions, and a study plan for four, two or one week. The download links work for a year, and the files are yours to keep.

Questions people ask
Do I need an account?
No. After you pay, you land on your prep page, and we email you a private access link. Open it on any device to practice.
Is it a subscription?
No. You pay $35 once. Nothing renews, and you are not charged again.
What happens after 45 days?
The online practice closes. The PDFs stay yours, and you can download them again for a year after you pay.
My test is more than 45 days away. When should I buy?
Start with the free practice test and the study guide. Buy full prep when your test is about six weeks out, so your 45 days cover the weeks before test day.
My program lists five sections, not six. Is this still for me?
Yes. Programs list six sections: reading, numerical computation, numerical reasoning, paper folding, problem solving and mechanical comprehension, and some list five sections: reading, numerical computation, numerical reasoning, paper folding and mechanical reasoning. Every section is also a test on its own here, so you can skip Problem Solving if your letter does not list it.
Is this the same as the GAN test?
No. Our questions are written by us to the format GAN's sample pages show. They are not GAN's questions, and GAN does not publish how many questions each section has or how long each section lasts.
Can I practice on my phone?
Yes. The tests work on phones, tablets and computers. Your progress is saved on the device you use.
Does it cover the electrical training ALLIANCE test?
No. This prep is for the GAN test. If your local gives the electrical training ALLIANCE test, with its algebra and reading parts, see the IBEW aptitude test prep instead.
